AOG — aircraft on ground support

An aircraft on ground is the most expensive problem in aviation. Every hour costs money in disrupted schedules, displaced passengers and idle crew — and the fix usually depends on finding one part, one engineer or one courier faster than the phone tree allows.

What makes AOG hard

AOG resolution is a coordination problem more than a technical one. The part exists somewhere. An engineer with the right type rating exists somewhere. Someone is flying to the right airport in the next four hours. The difficulty is finding all three at 23:00 on a Sunday, through a network of personal contacts that only works if the right person happens to pick up.

JobAvion turns that phone tree into a broadcast. A request goes out to the organisations and individuals who are actually able to respond, with the technical detail they need to answer immediately.

How an AOG request works

  • An operator or MRO raises the request with aircraft type, part number and location
  • Qualified responders — suppliers, MROs, engineers, couriers — see it immediately
  • Responses come back with availability, condition and lead time
  • The requester picks a responder and coordination moves into a private thread
  • Delivery to the aircraft is tracked to the handover

Getting the part to the aircraft

Sourcing a part is only half the problem — it then has to physically reach an aircraft that is, by definition, not where it should be. Alongside professional logistics providers, JobAvion supports personal courier delivery, where a traveller already flying the right route carries the part. For a small, urgent component this is often the fastest route available and it uses capacity that would otherwise fly empty.

Every courier is identity-verified before they can accept AOG work, and the handover is recorded at both ends.

Who uses AOG support

  • Airlines and cargo operators facing a technical delay
  • MROs sourcing a part for a customer aircraft
  • Parts suppliers and distributors with stock to offer
  • Logistics providers and personal couriers with route capacity
  • Line stations without local spares holding
